International Nurses Day, May 12,2018

May 12,2018 :
International Nurses Day
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
International Nurses Day is the day  internationally  celebrated around the world on 12 May (the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth) of each year, to mark the contributions nurses make to society.
Each year , the International Council  releases a theme and the Nurses' Day Theme for 2018 is  :
"A Voice to Lead, Health is a Human Right".
A Voice to Lead, Health is a Human Right-- this toolkit presents compelling evidence showing how investment in nursing leads to economic development and how improving conditions in which people live leads to cohesive societies and productive economies.
Our Former People`s President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam described Nursing  Profession in his speed speech as:

"When I see the doctors I see them as pain removers. When I see dentists, I see them as persons who bring smile on the faces of people. When I see the nurses, I am reminded of angels moving in a full moon night. In a hospital when no doctors, no relatives are around the patients during night time, the nurses go around to provide consolation and relief to the patients. At that time nurses appear to be angels for the patients to cater to their requirements like medicines, dressing and other help".

On this International Nurses Day, let us join together to share how nurses are transforming health care and health systems ensuring that no person is left behind. Let us join our voices together to be a voice to lead by supporting a people centric approach to patient care and health systems, and ensuring our voices are heard in influencing health policy, planning and provision.

Health is a Human Right which means that all humans have the right to access affordable and quality health care at a time when they need it most. There are nurses working everyday in health care setting and in positions of influence and decision making and are enabling this right now!

Let us on this occasion of 'International Nurses Day' salute and express our sincere gratitude to these noble angels going about their divine and selfless duty of relieving pain and suffering of mankind by restoring  lost hope in the minds and cheer on the faces of patients through  their tender care.
