Mr B Sai Shankar ( E – mail : shankar4978@gmail.com) :

I had the privilege of attending the weekend hospital management course, which was very efficiently coordinated by Mr.Mahalingam, who has around 25 years experience in healthcare administration.

The meticulousness with which he sent the profile of the faculties well ahead of the sessions, the PPTs/PDFs of each session after its completion and communication regarding any changes in the programme were top-notch and I am yet to come across such a superb communicator. He was very easily approachable to clarify any doubts that we had during the course. If he was unable to answer our queries (which was very rare), he made it sure that the query is sent to an expert and correct reply is sent to the candidate within a day. Such dedication truly deserves a round of applause.

I am sure that any course that he organizes will be of the same high standards that he sets for himself and the candidates can be assured that the faculty he arranges for the sessions are experts in their fields who share the same vision of Mr. A Mahalingam – i.e., to share the knowledge they have gained to the benefit of everyone

I take this opportunity to thank Mr.Mahalingam for conducting the certificate course in Hospital management. My dream of attending a healthcare  management short term course was achieved by attending the course conducted by my mentor Mr.Mahalingam A.

I should say that he has a wonderful way of conducting the course, so meticulously by covering different subjects of hospital management in such an abridged form wherein a layman like me who is not from a hospital background could vouch for him.

I saw him how much he is respected in the hospital administration field in Chennai and in the country and would be felt, only if you have an interaction with him.

We were 16 in the batch and all of them successfully completed the course and each and every one of us are in touch with him since he is a person who  can rely upon for any help in the field of health care professionals.

Having an experience of 28 years in the Pharma selling field, this course conducted by him has helped me in many ways in my selling career. I joined this course in order to shift myself to a hospital management job in future and the course was very useful to me in many ways even in my present selling job. I wish him success in future Endeavour’s.

Prez Kovind calls nurses true nation-builders - International Nurses' Day 2018

Prez Kovind calls nurses true nation-builders

NEW DELHI: President Ram Nath Kovind today, on International Nurses' Day, lauded the dedication and contribution of nurses to the nation and stressed on the need for strengthening the nursing sector.

He also conferred the prestigious Florence Nightingale awards to 35 nurses for their outstanding services at a function at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

"Nurses play a very important role in the lives of people and their dedication and services is recognised by all. Nurses are the true nation-builders," the president said.

"At present, there are 1.7 nurses per 1,000 people in India, and the world average is 2.5 nurses. In the past few years, the number of registered nurses and other health workers has crossed 27 lakh (till March 2017). But this number is not sufficient," Kovind said.

Indian nurses' services and dedication are recognised all over the world, especially in the Gulf region where they are employed in a large number, he said.

The nurses who have been awarded today represent the country's diversity in unity, the president said.

Union Health Minister J P Nadda and Union Minister of State for Health
Ashwini Kumar Choubey gave away the awards to the nurses at the Florence Nightingale awards ceremony.

T
he awards are given to outstanding nursing personnel employed with the Centre, states or Union Territories.

Nadda expressed confidence that the Florence Nightingale Awardees of 2018 will inspire the nursing fraternity to rededicate themselves to quality healthcare.

"I congratulate all the awardees of the Florence Nightingale award-2018, who have been honoured with this prestigious award for their exemplary service and thank each one of you for your yeoman service and contribution towards patient care and well-being of fellow citizens," Nadda said.

He said India is proud to celebrate International Nurses' Day 2018, acknowledging the strong commitment, compassion and dedication that nurses display in the practice of their profession.

International Nurses Day: Tamil Nadu govt nurses to get a makeover with ‘smart’ uniforms

International Nurses Day: Tamil Nadu govt nurses to get a makeover with ‘smart’ uniforms

New Delhi: Today is International Nurses Day, a day to celebrate and honour our nurses for the contributions they make towards people’s health. Celebrated every year on 12th May around the world, this day also commemorates the birth anniversary of the Florence Nightingale, the world’s most famous nurse and the founder of modern nursing. Hence, this day is celebrated with a strong significance, including special events and initiatives. The International Council of Nurses (ICN), which has celebrated this day since 1965, has chosen the theme “Nurses A Voice to Lead - Health is a Human right” for this year’s event.
International Nurses Day is celebrated in a big way by many hospitals across India to create awareness among the public about the role and responsibilities of nurses, who are known as the backbone of our nation's healthcare system. Bringing a change in nurses’ uniform, Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijaybaskar said on Friday that a committee under the state Health Systems project director P Uma Maheswari would ensure that they have smart scrubs and sneakers which will help them stay comfortable during their long hours of work, reported The Times of India.
The health minister’s statement followed after nurses working in the state government-run hospitals have appealed the health department seeking to change the attire.
“They wanted an outfit that will keep them at ease while they are working with modern equipment. The committee will come out with their options soon,” he was quoted as saying by the TOI.
But what made some nurses happier was a long bridge course, promotions, and more job opportunities, said the report. He added: “Diploma holder study for three years while degree holders study for four years. The bridge course will offer one-year intensive training for diploma holders covering all the subject they haven't studied so they can be awarded the degree,” he said amidst thundering applause. The course material prepared by the university would be sent to the national nursing council for approval.”
On the eve of International Day for Nurses, the minister awarded 251 nurses in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication to the nursing profession.

International Nurses Day: TN govt nurses may get smart, colourful uniforms

International Nurses Day: TN govt nurses may get smart, colourful uniforms

CHENNAI: Short pinafore, long stockings, cap and belle shoes – this all-white ensemble of nurses’ uniform has been there for long. But government nurses in Tamil Nadu have petitioned the health department seeking to change the attair.
On Friday, the eve of the International Day for Nurses, health minister C Vijay Baskar said a committee under Tamil Nadu Health Systems project director P Uma Maheswari would ensure that nurses have smart scrubs and sneakers that will help them stay comfortable during their long hours of work.

“They wanted an outfit that will keep them at ease while they are working with modern equipment. The committee will come out with their options soon,” he said after presenting awards to 251 nurses.
Many nurses couldn’t resist their smiles. “Almost all private hospitals have moved on to more colourful scrubs. It’s not just about being in vogue, but about staying at ease. Many nurses are so conscious that they keep pulling their dress down even when they are at emergencies. Comfortable dress and shoes will better patient outcomes,” said 34-year-old R Selvi, who works as a senior nurse.
But what made some nurses happier was a long bridge course, promotions and more job opportunities. The state is working with the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University for a bridge course – diploma to degree.
“Diploma holder study for three years while degree holders study for four years. The bridge course will offer one-year intensive training for diploma holders covering all the subject they haven't studied so they can be awarded degree,” he said amidst thundering applause. The course material prepared by the university would be sent to the national nursing council for approval, he said.
The government is in the process of preparing a list nurses for promotion and recruitment of fresher's, he said. The state medical recruitment board has so far appointed 9,533 nurses.

PRESIDENT OF INDIA ADDRESSES THE NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY CELEBRATIONS

PRESIDENT OF INDIA ADDRESSES THE NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY DAY CELEBRATIONS
Rashtrapati Bhavan : 11.05.2018

The President of India, Shri Ram Nath Kovind, graced and addressed the National Technology Day Celebrations in New Delhi today (May 11, 2018).
Speaking on the occasion, the President said that after Independence, India began to climb the value chain in technology and knowledge production in the areas of space and atomic energy. Today, we have expanded to best-in-class capacities in communication technology, IT, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. This has changed perceptions about our country and helped both our people and our economy. In the past year itself, we have had stand-out achievements such as the launch of the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System - 1L. We are also making preparations for the Chandrayaan-2 mission to the moon. India has a formidable reputation in drugs and vaccines.
Congratulating the award winners at the event, the President said the emphasis on quality in our innovation and technology endeavours is non-negotiable. There was a time when we tended to confuse frugal and low-cost innovation with jugaad – small, incremental change or essentially a cut-and-paste approach to technology. As a society, we have and we must continue to overcome that mindset. Today’s award winners are examples of how we are moving ahead with daring, with risk-taking ability and with ingenuity – how we are making genuine leaps of imagination and of innovation. Beyond the products and processes, it is this new energy among our technology incubators that is refreshing.
The President said that now we have to explore new frontiers. The government has proposed to establish Centres of Excellence to train young technologists in robotics, artificial intelligence, digital manufacture, Big Data Analytics, quantum communication, and in the Internet of Things. The government is also pursuing demonstration and deployment of successful technology solutions for clean energy options and for meeting the challenge of water availability. These are 21stcentury challenges – and they require 21st century answers.
The President said that technology is destiny, but technology must also be equity. Its fruits must be accessible to all. Finance and resources should be available to all technologists who may wish to turn entrepreneurs – and to migrate from the lab room to the shop floor. Above all, gender equity must be integrated with technology production and technology sharing. We need more of our country’s young women to enter the technology and innovation space. Those who are already working here are doing a remarkable job, but their numbers need to improve. And improve urgently.
